Filters
Search filters allow you to narrow down your search by defining various parameters. They are a important function in using the search effectively. As the filters are facetted, they also show information on the assets and collections you have in iconik.
Using search filters
You can find the filters by going to the search page then:
- Login and go to Search
- Click on the Filters icon on the left navigation bar.
- This will open the Filters panel, which show a list of various filters you can apply.
- The filters act straight away updating the search results.
- As you apply the filters the list of filters is facated down to show what is available for the current search result.
Date Created and Date Modified.
These filters allow you to search by date created for an asset or collection, and date that the asset or collection was last modified.
Stored In
This filter allows users to make storage specific searches. Storage selections in this field comes with a prefixed toggle button for switching between ‘in’ and ‘not in’ actions.
How to use:
Select storage/s of interest then toggle between ‘in’ and ‘not in’ to include and exclude storages respectively in a search. E.g If you want to search for assets that are in "Storage A" but not in "Storage B", add the two storages from this dropdown, set "Storage A" to ‘in’ and "Storage B" to ‘not in’ to get the desired results.
Metadata Values
Metadata views are defined by your administrator on iconik. They are composed of various metadata fields that can be populated with values. You can filter a search by a metadata view by selecting the metadata view. Once selected it will then show a list of fields for which you can enter values.
Other Filters.
The filters are dynamically generated based on the Assets and Collections that you have added to iconik. So at first with no assets in iconik, there is no content to derive the possible filters from. As you add assets, collections and describe them with metadata iconik will populate the filters.
Examples of filters are:
- Tags.
- Object Type - Collection or Asset.
- Formats - such as MPEG-4, Quicktime or JPEG.
- Type - Asset, NLE Project, Subclip
- Media Type - Video, Image, Audio & Document.
- Object Type - Asset or Collection.
- Approval Status - Approved, Requested, Rejected or Mixed.
Saving Filters
Filters can't be saved on there own, but they are saved as part of a saved search. Please check the documentation there for more details.
Changing what is shown in filters
Administrators can change the default filters for iconik in the Search Settings in the Admin pages.
Users can change what they see for themselves in their Search Settings.
