What is iconik Storage Gateway?
The iconik Storage Gateway is software that you can install on your server or your machine that monitors files, folders and can manage the transfer and transcode of files and folders for iconik.

iconik Storage Gateway - how it works.
iconik Storage Gateway is configured as a daemon or service on a server. This server is attached to the storage that you want to monitor. iconik Storage Gateway indexes the storage and then will start monitoring it for changes such as adding or deleting files.
As iconik Storage Gateway indexes or discovers new files, it parses them to see they have metadata and if it can create a preview of the files and then it will upload information about those files, the generated preview and any metadata to iconik. iconik will then be aware of each file and create asset records as needed. Any commands issued to iconik against the file or storage will be queued for when the iconik Storage Gateway connects (for security reasons iconik can not initiate a connection to a iconik Storage Gateway).
